Founded in 1955, Don Bosco Technical Institute is a private not-for-profit high school located in Rosemead, CA. The school is currently the only Catholic fully integrated college preparatory and engineering-science-technology focused school in the United States.

Requirements / Qualifications

Essential Functions: 1. Directs the interscholastic athletic program including but not limited to: scheduling, supervision of coaches, staff and students involved with the programs in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the California Interscholastic Federation, the Catholic Athletic Association and appropriate league constitutions. 2. Supervises all athletic equipment and facilities used in the interscholastic athletic programs, including the gym, baseball field, track, soccer fields, and weight room. 3. Assists in the preparation of the athletic budget and administers the approved budget. 4. Assists in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of coaches. Recommends suitable candidates for contract to the Principal and Athletic Committee. 5. With the Assistant Principal/Dean of Students Affairs and the Dean of Instruction, maintains records and supervises eligibility of students for interscholastic athletics. 6. Supervises arrangements and preparations for all home and away contests. 7. Represents the school and department at all awards ceremonies and at all league; C.I.F.; C.A.A. as well as all other meetings as requested. 8. Fosters an environment of teamwork and commitment of athletic department personnel by developing and improving effective methods of communication. 9. Is a member of the school’s administrative council. 10. Prepares for all seasonal department and bi-annual “Athletic Committee” meetings. 11. Performs all other related duties when called upon by the Principal or President to do so. 12. Fosters the department and school “Philosophy” and “Mission” statements in a spirit of “assistance” and “presence” as set out in the teaching system of Don Bosco. 13. Promotes the athletic department sports information to the school and outside community with newsletters and social media postings.

QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive background in interscholastic sports. Demonstrated logistical and organizational skills. Proven abilities in written and verbal communications. This position is full-time (12-month term). Capable leader. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the school’s current need, the A.D. will be required to teach at minimum 2 classes. JOB GOALS: Provide leadership and supervision in all matters related to the operation of the Athletic Department. Skills: 1. The ability to operate a variety of office equipment including photocopiers, facsimile machines, and personal computers. 2. Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, Excel, Power Point, etc) and Google Suite for Business and Education. 3. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 4. Valid possession of a Class C driver’s license and demonstrates no serious driving violations to include felony offenses. Education: 1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (minimal requirement). 2. A Master’s degree with a valid CA Teaching credential and Athletic Coaching Certification (preferred). 3. Knowledge of First Aid to athletic injuries and basic life support (CPR). Personal Characteristics: Able to communicate effectively and audibly to youth. Able to lift sporting equipment.
