POSITION SUMMARY Domo is seeking an experienced FinOps Practitioner to join our SRE team. At Domo FinOps is embedded within our SRE practice to drive cost optimization, system performance, and overall stability. Our team is a dynamic blend of engineers, data analysts, and solution implementers who partner closely with engineering teams to deliver impactful results. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in financial operations (FinOps), engineering, DevOps practices, and data analytics to analyze cloud and infrastructure costs, identify efficiencies, and implement solutions that enhance the reliability and scalability of our systems. You'll collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure Domo's infrastructure is cost-effective, performant, and resilient. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze and optimize cloud and infrastructure costs using FinOps best practices, including forecasting, budgeting, and rightsizing resources to reduce waste while maintaining high performance and stability. Develop and maintain data reporting pipelines and tools for automating cost monitoring, reporting, and optimization workflows. Conduct advanced analytics on usage data, performance metrics, and cost trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations for SRE and cross-functional teams. Collaborate with fellow SRE engineers to partner with broader engineering teams to deploy and refine solutions to optimize cost efficiency, system performance, and scalability. Stay current with industry trends in FinOps, cloud economics, DevOps tooling, and analytics to evolve Domo's practices. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 5 years of experience as a FinOps Practitioner or in a similar role focused on cloud cost management and optimization. Proven expertise in Python, SQL, scripting, and data manipulation. Strong background in DevOps practices, including tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, or similar for infrastructure management and automation. Demonstrated experience in analytics, including working with data visualization and analytics tools and querying large datasets (e.g., SQL, BigQuery) to derive insights. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) cost reports such as AWS CUR, Azure Cost Management Exports, GCP Cloud Billing export. Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset, and the ability to balance cost optimization with performance and stability goals. Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certifications in FinOps (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner), DevOps (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer), or related areas (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer). Experience in SRE environments, with knowledge of reliability engineering principles like SLAs, error budgets, and chaos engineering. Prior work in optimizing costs for large-scale, high-availability systems in SaaS or tech companies. Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog for performance and cost tracking.
