DOMO Engineering Plastics US LLC (DOMO EPUS) is an engineering thermoplastics provider with a strong focus on technical service and sustainability. DOMO EPUS operates as part the Domo Chemicals family of Companies, which includes polyamide vertical integration and compounding across ten sites and seven countries. With over 25 years of experience in the compounding industry, DOMO EPUS is a leading engineering materials company with specialization in nylon as well as compounding expertise and product lines in TPU, PPS, and PPA. DOMO EPUS operates out of the Atlanta suburb of Buford, GA.
We are currently looking to add an Automotive Business Development Manager to our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the automotive sector, selling engineering thermoplastics at the OEM and Tier 1 level, with combined experience in technical and commercial roles.
Under the guidance of the Director of Operations N.A., the Automotive BDM is responsible for driving increased sales volume and margin in both ICE and EV business segments utilizing a blend of commercial skills and technical service ability. The position strengthens existing customer relationships while developing new relationships at the OEM, Tier, and Custom Molding levels. Identifying marketing opportunities to help increase Technyl brand knowledge throughout the automotive space is also key.
Major Responsibilities:
- Customer Focus
- Foster relationships with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives and maintain trust.
- Develop and implement a plan for expansion of current automotive sales base.
- Drive sales growth by identifying, qualifying, and establishing value-selling relationships with customers within the automotive market, plan and lead contract negotiations (product selections, pricing, service) and close deals.
- Provide support for market development and creation of marketing concepts.
- Sales activities – customer workshops, technical trainings, etc.
- Processes
- Provide field technical service and support to accounts as needed.
- Work in concert with R&D to identify, drive, and obtain additional OEM spec approvals.
- Achieve highest possible margin levels by selling values other than price (i.e. delivery, service, lead time, technical capacity, global position, etc.).
- Maintain accurate log of visit reports, contacts, quotations, and sales pipeline opportunities on Salesforce platform.
- Communication
- Actively participate in sales updates and other company and/or sales team meetings.
- Work as liaison with Quality and R&D teams, gathering data for root cause analysis and complaint resolution, as necessary.
- Display strong, professional communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels.
- Always represent the company in a professional manner
- Finance
- Monitor market and competitive pricing and seek optimal price strategies.
- Submit bi-weekly expense reports in a timely manner and according to company policy.
- Actively collaborate with Finance Team regarding accounts Receivable Management.
Requirements
- This is a home office-based position with up to 75% travel, some international. The candidate must reside in or near the Detroit area.
- Technical or bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical, mechanical science, or other relevant education and extensive nylon industrial experience.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the automotive sector, selling engineering thermoplastics at the OEM and Tier 1 level, with combined experience in technical and commercial roles.
- Experience with automotive specifications, testing standards, material selection methodology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Teams)
- Previous experience using CRM or Pipeline Management software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments autonomously.
- Technical capabilities (molding, compounding, formulation, or design engineering experience) is a huge plus.
