Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina: Wateree Steam Plant located in Eastover, South Carolina has an opening for a Mechanic Instrumentation & Controls Apprentice.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment associates with an electric generating station including programmable logic controllers, VFD's, RTD’s, thermocouples, controllers, smart field devices, analytical transmitters and Emerson DCS controls. Participates in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provides technical and hands on support during shutdowns. Provides hands on support to resolve instrument and electrical problems as they occur. The Power Plant I&C Mechanic Apprentice will also:

• Participates in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provides technical and hands on support during shutdowns.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of related instrumentation and controls work experience with strong troubleshooting skills is required and completion of the Power Plant I&C Mechanic Apprentice program.
  
  

Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities For Both Levels

• Experience operating personal computers and a fundamental knowledge of Windows based software.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in confined spaces including the ability to wear a respirator and maintain annual respirator qualification.
• This position requires heavy lifting and climbing tall structures at extreme heights.
• The position is subject to overtime and expected to respond to call outs.
• Ability to work during inclement weather.
• Completion of basic Ovation Training.
  
  

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.
