Job Summary
Dominion Energy has an opening at the Cope Generating Station located in Jasper County. We have one position available, and we will fill it at a level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in the continuous operation and maintenance of plant equipment by regularly monitoring, maintaining, and keeping records on plant equipment.
- Assists supervisor by isolating and tagging equipment for maintenance and preparing equipment for operation.
- Train and become proficient in plant systems knowledge to qualify as a Control Room Operator.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Operating Technician I
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
- Minimum of 0 - 2 years of work experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Prefer a working knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors and other related equipment.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs or more frequently.
- Must be able to safely climb tall structures at extreme heights (fixed ladders and/or stairs up to 100 feet).
- Must be available to work after hours, scheduled overtime, callout work, and rotating shifts.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have good communication/human relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Combined-Cycle Power Plant Operations experience or Industry equivalent experience in DCS Controls is preferred.
Operating Technician II

- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.

Education Requirements
A degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted instead of the preferred level of education:
High school diploma or GED required.
