Dominican Village is a not-for-profit, senior living community and assisted living residence founded in 1992 by the sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, New York. Its mission is to provide a supportive environment in which the sacredness of life and the dignity of each person are held in the highest regard and to offer its residents a choice of programs and services which foster independence, promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and maximize opportunities for socialization.
Dominican Village is currently seeking a full-time Activities Assistant to plan and implement group activities for residents in our Independent and Assisted Living programs.
The Activities Assistant will conduct and provide diversified programs through individual and group activities enabling each resident to engage in cultural, spiritual, physical, political, social and intellectual programs and events.
Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service to all residents and visitors of residents in the community
- Provide outstanding customer service to all residents and visitors of residents in the community
- Facilitate socialization among residents
- Invite and/or cue residents to participate in planned activities
- Conduct/lead majority of programs
- Be flexible in work schedule to accommodate special events and evening/weekend programs
- Assists with the implementation of special events
- Assists with family functions and events
- Identify supplies needed for planned experienced
- Participate in on-going in-service and training requirements
- Follow emergency procedures
- Understand the safety practices and procedures
- Carries out other duties as assigned by Director of Activities
Work schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday | 10:00am – 6:00pm
Education/Experience:
· Associates or Bachelors’ degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Gerontology, Art, or
related field or equivalent experience (1 years)
· Experience in activity planning with geriatric population
· Must be creative, outgoing, well organized, and have excellent communication and
computer skills
· Evidence in creativity
· Demonstrated organizational skills
· Mature, pleasant, friendly, and cheerful personality
COVID-19 Requirements:
Due to Department of Public Health requirements, all candidates will be required to show valid proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 (1st vaccine, 2nd vaccine, and booster) before commencing work.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
