What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Litigation Paralegal — Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice position at Dominguez Law Firm?
About Our Firm
Dominguez Law represents injured individuals and families throughout New Mexico in serious personal injury and complex medical malpractice cases, including birth injuries. Led by Paul M. Dominguez, our firm combines fierce advocacy with a hands-on, compassionate approach to helping clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
We are looking for an experienced litigation paralegal who shares that commitment—and brings the knowledge, judgment, and initiative to make an immediate impact.
Who We’re Looking For
We want a seasoned professional with substantial, direct experience in plaintiff-side personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. This is not an entry-level or learn-as-you-go position. We are seeking someone who can step into an active practice, get up to speed quickly, and move cases forward with minimal supervision.
You know how to organize a complex file, identify what is missing, stay ahead of deadlines, and anticipate the next step. You understand that behind every medical record and discovery response is a person or family counting on our team.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and organize personal injury and medical malpractice files from intake through resolution and trial preparation.
- Obtain, review, and organize medical records and bills; prepare medical chronologies and case summaries.
- Assist attorneys with pleadings, discovery requests and responses, document production, and court filings.
- Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and help ensure compliance with applicable court rules.
- Coordinate with clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Assist with deposition preparation, exhibits, witness coordination, and trial preparation.
- Maintain clear, responsive, and compassionate communication with clients.
- Take initiative, identify outstanding tasks, and keep cases moving without constant direction.
What You Bring
- Substantial hands-on experience in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and the demands of complex injury cases.
- Experience supporting cases through discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and written communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and genuine care for injured clients and their families.
- Experience with New Mexico litigation procedures and court filings is preferred.
