Volunteer Coordinator

Honolulu, HI | Full Time | $65,000/ year

DVAC is seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support volunteers who help deliver critical services to survivors and their families. About the Role:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers to strengthen DVAC’s programs and services. This role ensures volunteers have a meaningful, well-prepared experience that aligns with DVAC’s mission and values while helping expand community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring in new volunteers and interns through outreach, community events, and partnerships with local schools and programs.
  • Lead orientations and trainings that prepare volunteers to support DVAC’s mission with confidence and compassion.
  • Coordinate schedules, match volunteers to the right roles, and ensure strong communication across departments.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, track hours and compliance requirements, and support academic practicum needs.
  • Build a positive, inclusive volunteer culture and serve as the main point of contact for all volunteers.
  • Recognize volunteer contributions and help strengthen retention through appreciation activities.
  • Contribute to reporting, program improvements, and organizational initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of volunteer management experience (MSW preferred).
  • Strong communication, organization, and supervisory skills.
  • Experience in human services, volunteer supervision, or academic partnerships is a plus.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, trauma-informed practices, or crisis intervention is helpful.
  • Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend events.
