Job Overview
Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON)
Location: Camden, ME 04843
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30-minute meal break)
Days: Monday to Friday
Contract Duration: 9 weeks (with possible extension)
Pay Rate: $75/hr
OT Rate: $112.5/hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Order Type: Declined Extension / Backfill
Status: Approved & Active
Director of Nursing (DON) Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing operations within the facility, ensuring the highest standards of resident care
- Lead, supervise, and support the nursing team to maintain optimal performance
- Ensure full compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations (CMS standards)
- Conduct audits, quality checks, and oversee quality improvement initiatives
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and care protocols
- Manage staffing schedules, assignments, and workflow for efficient operations
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and administrative leadership
- Oversee resident assessments, care plans, and documentation accuracy
- Address clinical issues, resident concerns, and escalations promptly
- Guide staff training, coaching, evaluations, and professional development
- Maintain effective communication with families, residents, and facility leaders
- Participate in meetings, compliance reviews, and operational planning
Qualifications
- Active RN License (State of Maine or compact)
- Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience (DON or ADON strongly preferred)
- Deep understanding of long-term care and skilled nursing regulations
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis-management abilities
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and maintain a positive work culture
