Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Department Manager and team leaders, the DOT Yard Driver will:
- Perform trailer switches, moving trailers in and out of dock doors and positioning them in designated yard locations. Many trailer moves are time-sensitive and critical to operations.
- Transport trailers between off-site locations as needed
- Conduct daily inspections of yard equipment and report any defects to ensure equipment is maintained safely and properly
- Maintain safe operating practices while driving and handling yard equipment.
- Assist with general warehouse duties based on distribution center needs, which may include: loading/unloading trailers, operating forklift type equipment and supporting other operational tasks as needed
- Current Class A CDL required and must be DOT qualified
- Ability to back 48’ and 53’ trailers proficiently
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)required
- Previous warehouse or distribution center experience preferred
- Ability to adapt to changing job duties and department needs
