Assistant Store Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team. Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including sales, inventory control, and staff management
• Assist with employee orientation, training, and development to ensure team members are well-equipped to perform their duties
• Supervise and motivate team members to meet sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service
• Manage POS systems, cash handling, and cashiering duties accurately and efficiently
• Oversee inventory management, stock replenishment, merchandising, and pricing strategies
• Conduct interviewing and recruiting of new staff to build a strong team
• Handle purchasing decisions and coordinate with vendors for inventory procurement
• Monitor store performance metrics and implement strategies for improvement
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
• Assist in marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase store visibility and sales
• Maintain effective communication with team members and upper management to ensure smooth operations

Skills

• Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments with supervisory responsibilities
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
• Proficiency in inventory management, POS systems, cash handling, and retail math
• Ability to negotiate with vendors and manage purchasing processes effectively
• Multilingual or bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, and stock control
• Experience in merchandising, marketing, sales management, and retail sales strategies
• Competence in training & development programs for staff growth
• Knowledge of retail management software and administrative tasks such as scheduling and record keeping
• Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently through effective time management skills
