Grand Rapids based local CPA firm is looking to add a Tax & Assurance Manager to our team. We are a growing West Michigan CPA firm offering a complete line of services to primarily privately and family-owned businesses. For nearly 30 years we have been providing tax, assurance, consulting, small business accounting, employee benefit plan, and business valuation services to clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, dealerships, professional health practices, not-for-profit, condo associations, and more.

Essential Duties:
- Provide a full range of tax services including tax planning, year-end consulting, and preparation and review of corporate, partnership, individual, and trust returns
- Assist in leading engagements to plan and perform audits, reviews and compilations including preparation of financial statements for business entities, not-for-profit organizations and employee benefit plans
- Effectively manage each engagement component including timing, client requests, fieldwork, and ensuring tasks are completed within project scope
- Participate in providing quarterly and year-end services including review of financials, fixed asset management, and making financial recommendations
- Ensure quality, thoroughness, and completion of assignment tasks within agreed timeframes
- Take part in opportunities to be exposed to the full landscape of a client’s business to enhance client service
- Develop staff members through the sharing of technical information, providing timely feedback, and encouragement
- Support with research and understanding of new accounting standards and tax regulations in order to implement necessary changes
Role Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of prior public accounting experience preferred
- Thorough understanding of accounting and financial statements
- Proficient in excel and experience with professional tax software and other accounting software
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication with people at various organizational levels both internally and externally
- Exhibit a high level of integrity
