Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with inquiries, product selections, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Handle cash transactions responsibly, ensuring accurate cash handling practices are followed.
- Stock shelves and maintain merchandise displays to ensure products are readily available for customers.
- Conduct product demonstrations to promote new items and enhance customer engagement.
- Assist in merchandising efforts to create appealing product displays that drive sales.
- Utilize basic math skills to manage transactions and provide change accurately.
- Engage in upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining a positive shopping experience.
- Supervise junior staff as needed, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and stockroom.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred, particularly within a grocery store setting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse customers.
- Familiarity with retail math concepts to assist in inventory management and sales tracking.
- Experience in stocking, merchandising, and conducting product demos is advantageous.
- Basic phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone when necessary.
