We are seeking an Associate Engineer for our San Diego office. Under the supervision of Senior Engineers, you will assist with a range of civil engineering tasks, guiding projects from initial concept through preliminary engineering, final design, and construction. You will perform engineering work and exercise independent judgment.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Execute engineering tasks for the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects
• Produce detailed roadway/structure, active transportation, transit and utility (water, sewer, storm drain) designs, design calculations, technical reports, and PS&E for capital improvement facilities
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants, resource agencies, and City, County, State clients
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversee project progress and budget/expenditures
• Perform quality control and establish BMPs for work products
• Direct and mentor engineering assistant engineers, technicians, and interns in their work
• Support marketing and proposal efforts
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• California Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain a reciprocal license within 6 months.
• 4-10 years of capital improvement project experience after graduation
• CA driver’s license
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Success in delivery of PS&E bid packages for capital improvement projects
• Understanding of multi-disciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction documents, and local agency, APWA Standards (“Greenbook”), and Caltrans design standards, specifications, and practices
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, design software, including Civil 3D, MicroStation, or AutoCAD, hydraulic and hydrology software, and ArcGIS
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
• Commitment to delivering quality work products and superior service to clients
Physical Requirements:
• Will sit, stand, or walk for the entire duration of a workday
• Will use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices regularly
• Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Work mostly indoors; occasionally work outdoors
• Usually work near others, such as in a shared office space
• Occasionally wear protective gear, such as a hard hat and safety vest
• Sometimes work in noisy or distracting work environments

FLSA Status:
Full-Time Exempt
Compensation: Annual salary ranges from $100,000 to $135,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience
