What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Dojo Construction, LLC?
Job Description
We are a commercial general contracting company looking for core team members to join us in building all types of commercial and multi-family construction projects. Our members have managed over a billion dollars in commercial construction with project types ranging from small Tenant Improvements to $200MM projects.
Responsibilities
You’ll manage commercial construction projects from contract through closeout. You’ll work directly with owners, architects, and subs, run your own OAC meetings, manage budgets and schedules, and keep jobs moving. You’ll work directly with the field superintendent to support them and make sure they have what they need to execute.
Day to day that looks like staying on top of your submittals and RFIs, knowing where your budget stands, keeping the owner informed, and solving problems before they become delays or change orders.
- Buyout the project. Right subs, right price, right scope
- Stay on top of the budget. Know where every dollar is going and flag problems before they become change orders
- Keep the schedule moving. Work with the super to identify issues ahead of time to minimize problems down the road
- Be the main point of contact for the owner, architect, and engineer. Communicate clearly and don’t let things sit
- Lead OAC meetings, drive the agenda, and follow through on action items
- Manage RFIs and submittals. Keep the information flowing so the job doesn’t stall
You’re Probably a Good Fit If:
- You’ve been managing commercial construction projects for at least several years.
- You have a bachelors’ degree in construction management, accounting, civil engineering or a similar field (or relevant experience)
- You can read a set of drawings and hold a sub accountable to their scope
- You’ve managed budgets and know your way around a cost report
- You’re comfortable with technology. Procore, Bluebeam, Excel, P6, whatever the job needs
- You work well under pressure and don’t freeze when things go sideways
- You’re a straight communicator with owners, subs, architects, and your own team
