Duties
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, clipping, and styling to meet each pet’s specific needs and breed standards
- Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s coat condition, skin health, and overall well-being, providing recommendations for ongoing care or veterinary referral if necessary
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in excellent condition
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences, provide updates on pet health, and offer pet care advice
- Assist with animal handling during intake and release processes, ensuring a positive experience for both pets and owners
- Support additional duties such as kennel assistance when needed, demonstrating flexibility and team spirit
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of breed-specific cuts and styling techniques
- Knowledge of animal handling, restraint methods, and pet care best practices
- Experience working with dogs of various sizes and temperaments; dog training skills are a plus
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is highly desirable for understanding animal health indicators
- Familiarity with animal handling equipment such as clippers, scissors, dryers, and bathing stations
- Ability to lift heavy pets safely while maintaining proper posture; heavy lifting is required
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
