Job Summary
The Tire Technician is responsible for maintaining and servicing customers’ unit tires. This role involves traveling to customer locations to inspect, replace, and ensure the proper condition of their tires.
Essential Functions
- Inspect, install, repair, and replace tires on material handling equipment, including forklifts, industrial vehicles, and heavy machinery.
- Diagnosing tire-related issues such as wear, damage, and improper inflation, recommending appropriate solutions.
- Perform tire mounting, balancing, and rotations to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Travel to customer locations to provide on-site tire services and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, including tire inspections, replacements, and inventory usage.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while handling tires and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment such as tire presses, jacks, and pneumatic tools to complete tasks efficiently.
- Communicate with customers and team members to provide updates on service completion and any necessary follow-up actions.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and operational standards.
- Stay up to date on industry’s best practices and advancements in material handling tire technology.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Previous experience as Tire Technician preferred
- Valid Driver’s License with, at minimum, 5 years driving experience
Travel Requirements
100% travel to customer sites
Environmental Conditions
Employee regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
