What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Bar Front Desk/Wooferee position at Dog Bar St. Pete?
Do you love service industry and have experience working with dogs? Do you love being outdoors and socializing with people? Dog Bar is looking for a well qualified candidate to join our team. This position is considered part time with 3-4 scheduled days a week and needs to be filled by August 31st 2023. We keep a team of 10 Wooferees/Desk Attendants so that flexible schedules can accommodate for school, vacations and other employment. Shifts are usually 5 hours long and we schedule for weekday evenings, Saturday or Sunday all day and the opportunity to expand to more shifts in the future.
Priority will be given to candidates with previous pet experience such as Vet Tech, Vet Assistant, Kennel Tech, Dog Daycare or Animal Medical Experience. Weekend and evening availability is a must!
Duties include
- Checking in Dogs
- Verifying shot records
- Handling payment
- Facilitating fun and safe play in the off-leash dog play yard.
- Engage and interact with dogs and their owners.
- Dealing with ownership complaints or problems with a positive attitude.
- Regularly demonstrating a sincere concern for the care, attitudes, and behaviors of dogs and the relationships they have with their owners.
- Observe dog body language and intervening when a dog exhibits stress signals or bullies another dog.
- Standing, running, walking for long hours.
- Constant monitoring of gates, fencing and overall security of play area.
- Keeping the yard tidy, picking up discarded trash and filling dog bowls regularly.
- Assist in picking up dog waste when the owners fail to.
- Communicate clearly with owners about appropriate dog behavior and manage their concerns.
- Take out trash at the end of the night.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience/daycare experience preferred.
- A strong knowledge of dogs & dog behavior.
- Passion for the care of dogs, no fear of dogs.
- Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
- Independent worker, manage your area with little to no assistance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to stand/walk for an entire shift.
- Capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
A little about what we are: The Dog Bar is a combination of a private off leash dog park and a full service sports bar. There’s over 5,000 sq. ft. of off-leash indoor & outdoor areas for pups with separate areas for low energy dogs from the large play area. Both are turfed and feature misting fans to keep you cool in the summer and heaters to fight off the chill in winter. Although we do not serve food there are food trucks available to order from daily. We opened in 2016 and are a family owned and run business. We have a fun tight knit staff that are passionate about their jobs and love working at Dog Bar.
