The Los Angeles Dodgers' Player Development targets and empowers the development of our players as human beings first, baseball players second. We perpetually hunt and add value at the margins to create a winning baseball ecosystem by supporting our players as they become more confident fathers, loyal friends, and trustworthy teammates. Our baseball players will arrive at Dodger Stadium equipped to navigate the game and the world.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Player Development intern will gain exposure to various areas in Player Development from the front office group to coaching staff, our performance lab, and operations staff. The intern will:
- Familiarize self with our internal systems, identifying areas for research to improve Player Development practices
- Operate various technologies such as Trackman, Hawkeye, virtual reality, etc.
- Implement, execute, and monitor daily usage of wearable technology, building out reports and tools to share findings with coaches and staff
- Work on assigned and independent projects, utilizing our internal systems and organizational resources
- Assist with player programming and Arizona Operations tasks as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
- Passionate about the game of baseball and people development
- Some knowledge of the game of baseball, advanced statistics, and current research/trends across the industry
- Interest in gaining exposure to various areas of Player Development and exploring areas for improving processes
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus
- Familiarity with coding languages R & Python a plus
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other variable hours
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, and Outlook
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree OR are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
- Must be available to live and work in Los Angeles or your assigned office location throughout the duration of your 3-month program during the summer months
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
- Passionate about working for a professional sports team
- Proactive and out of the box thinking
This program consists of 80% in-department work, 15% cross-functional project experience, and 5% additional programming. Interns collaborate on real business projects in small cross-functional groups while gaining hands-on, department-specific experience under a dedicated manager. The program is 100% in-person/onsite. This is a non-renewable internship and will conclude at the end of the scheduled 12-week program.
