What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/NCT position at Doctors Urgent Care - Flower Mound?
Doctors Urgent Care is looking for the next member of its team. They have 2 locations - Flower Mound and Northlake. Our new hire will be required to work between the two locations.
This position is for a Medical Assistant who is experienced with both back office and front office; a certified MA and with active NCT credentials are strongly preferred. This individual will report to the Area Clinical Manager. The Medical Assistant will be tasked with providing professional care for all patients following established standards and practices and will work under direct supervision of the provider on shift.
POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all duties in accordance with clinical, OSHA and infection control standards
- Document all patient-related communication and interventions in patient’s electronic medical record
- Prepare patients for examination and assists provider during treatment, examinations and testing of patients
- Measure and record vital signs
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint
- Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testing
- Maintain lab specimen logs
- Interpret and carry-out provider orders
- Prepare and administer medications applying aseptic technique
- Proficient in point of care testing and standard in-office procedures (nebulizer treatments, injections, basic wound care, procedure set-up)
- Observe patient response to medications administered and report adverse events to provider
- Coordinate out-patient testing and referrals as necessary
- Prepare, restock and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals and as needed
- Represent clinic in a professional manner
- Treat all customers and fellow employees in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Attend required meetings
- Participate in team activities and professional development activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Performs timely and quality radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the provider
- Performs quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment
- Performs urinalysis and other in-house lab tests including processing specimens for reference laboratories
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program
- NCT License with limited x-ray experience, minimum 1 year
- Current professional certification in medical assisting
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum of one-year clinical experience required
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment under deadline situations
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in a medical management application
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of clinical experience in a patient care setting is highly preferred
- Experience using an EHR system is extremely helpful
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
- Non-Certified Technician (NCT) license in state of residency if required by the state (preferred)
- Current BLS Certification is required within 30 days of start.'

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
