Job Description:
Doctor Sax House is seeking a dependable and hardworking Steward / Dishwasher to support our Food & Beverage team. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of kitchen and service operations. The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping a clean and well-organized workspace, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to assist across multiple areas of the operation when needed.
This position provides opportunities to support restaurant service, private events, and hotel programming throughout the season.
Job Summary
Join our dynamic hospitality team as a Steward / Dishwasher, where your energy and attention to cleanliness will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all kitchen and dining areas, ensuring food safety standards are met, and supporting the culinary team with basic food preparation and service tasks. Your positive attitude and dedication will help create a welcoming environment for both guests and staff alike.
Duties
- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment efficiently to support smooth kitchen operations
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, assembling ingredients, or portioning items under supervision
- Support catering and banquet setups by cleaning serving ware and ensuring presentation standards are maintained
- Maintain cleanliness of all food service areas, including floors, counters, sinks, and storage spaces in accordance with health regulations
- Buss tables promptly during service periods to ensure a clean and inviting dining environment for guests
- Follow proper food handling procedures to uphold safety standards and prevent contamination
- Support the culinary team with light cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas as needed
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality environments is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided
- Familiarity with restaurant or hotel operations, including food handling and sanitation practices, is advantageous
- Experience working in banquet or catering settings is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting colleagues and guests
