Microsoft Intune SME Tech Engineer

• Develop and maintain Surface release builds, including validation processes, deployment automation, and comprehensive technical documentation to support consistent and scalable rollouts.
• Provide third-line engineering support for escalated issues related to Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, and Windows OS, working closely with L3 operations teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Design, build, and maintain a structured knowledge base, including technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and end-user support articles to promote self-service and reduce support overhead.
• Identify, document, and implement workarounds for known issues, while continuously improving operational processes through scripting, automation, and workflow optimization.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to support endpoint hardening, reduce risk exposure, and ensure alignment with organizational security standards.
• Customize and manage Windows OS builds, including branding, provisioning logic, and seamless integration with Autopilot and Azure Active Directory environments.
• Create and manage Intune Configuration Profiles, Compliance Policies, Microsoft Defender settings, Firewall rules, and other mobile device management (MDM) controls to enforce consistent device configurations.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of Windows devices, from provisioning to retirement, with additional experience in managing iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices considered a plus.
• Package and deploy enterprise applications using PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT), ensuring automation, version control, and rollback capabilities are in place.
• Implement and monitor patch management and vulnerability remediation strategies, ensuring timely updates and alignment with security best practices.
• Design and support certificate-based authentication workflows using SCEP and NDES for both user and device scenarios.
• Develop automated solutions to enforce compliance policies and streamline policy deployment using Intune and related tools.
• Skilled in PowerShell for scripting, automation, application packaging, and system configuration.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure the scalability and reliability of Intune services and related infrastructure.
• Perform proactive monitoring and health checks of Intune deployments to detect and resolve issues before they impact end users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to improve the overall user experience and drive innovation in endpoint management.

Description

The services You will provide the client project team: As a Technical Engineer Contractor, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering solutions. Designing and developing technical solutions to address complex engineering problems. Conducting system integration, testing, and validation to ensure the performance and reliability of technical solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical guidance. Performing troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to maintain system functionality. Documenting technical specifications, processes, and procedures for future reference and compliance.

Primary Skill Required for the Role: Microsoft - SCCM - System Center Configuration Manager

Level Required for Primary Skill: Intermediate (3-5 years experience)

Additional Details For Role

Level- Staff

• Develop, test, and execute deployment plans for enterprise applications using MSI and/or App-V packaging.
• Manage remote deployments via systems management platforms, following standardized operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), QA management, and inventory validation to ensure successful releases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues, production support, and root-cause analysis.
• Automate deployment and configuration tasks using scripting (VB script, PowerShell).
• Monitor deployments and application performance using process, registry, and file monitoring tools.
• Coordinate deployments through Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
• Collaborate with US-based and international teams (Europe/India), communicating proactively on risks and issues.
• Document deployment activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in desktop engineering, application packaging, and remote deployment.
• Proficiency with SCCM, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, and deployment monitoring tools.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMWare) and monitoring utilities (Process Monitor, Registry Monitor, File Monitor).
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and logical thinking abilities.
• Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and adaptable to evolving tools and environments.
• Understanding of databases and SQL triggers is an advantage.
• Experience with high-volume deployments and upgrades (over a million annually).
• Familiarity with Numecent (Cloudpaging), EUPS (Unix/Windows) tools is preferred.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with global teams.
