Estimator

Ideally in Holyoke, MA or Milford MA, but also open to Remote, New England Region

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with experience in commercial building projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates across a diverse portfolio that includes commercial buildings, higher education, sports facilities, performing arts, and museums. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of commercial construction methods and cost estimating in both commercial and public construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical documents for commercial building projects.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates across all divisions of work.
• Evaluate and incorporate structural, architectural, and site interfaces across trades.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure competitive and complete pricing.
• Collaborate with design teams, project managers, and field personnel to ensure constructability and cost-efficiency.
• Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and design reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, labor rates, and material costs.
• Support the development of bid proposals, budgets, and cost reports.
• Develop thorough scopes of work that cover all aspects of a project, and ensure subcontractors comply with the scope produced.
• Attend client meetings to discuss estimates, answer questions, and resolve issues regarding pricing and estimates.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 4-5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, ideally with a general contractor.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and industry standards for both vertical and horizontal projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, HCSS, Onscreen Takeoff, or similar).
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
• Analytical and numerical proficiency; able to understand the relationship between design decisions and their quantities and costs.
• Attention to detail and precision.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with design-build, CMAR, and public works projects.
• Professional certifications such as LEED AP or PMP.
• Working knowledge of BIM and 3D modeling tools for coordination.
