Job Summary:
To supervise the Restorative Practice Center (which functions as Dobson’s alternative to in-school suspension.) To perform a variety of diverse clerical tasks for site-based personnel in support of their position; to provide information and/or direction regarding school and/or district procedures; and to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students (i.e. keep students on task, provide support, and de-escalate situations as needed
- Prescribe restorative programs to meet the needs of each student and their individual circumstances
- Facilitate mediation between students
- Perform a variety of diverse clerical tasks (typing, filing, copying, scheduling, recordkeeping, etc.) for assigned personnel which may include, but is not limited to, administrators, counselors, teachers, office and/or bookstore staff
- Respond to inquiries (i.e. students, parents, district personnel, general public, and outside agencies, etc.) to communicate procedures, information and/or direction
- Greet students, parents, district personnel, general public and/or representatives from outside agencies to respond to their inquiries and/or to direct them to appropriate personnel
- Prepare written materials (i.e. correspondence, letters, notices, announcements, etc.) to convey information
- Prepare and process a variety of documents and materials to disseminate information to appropriate parties (i.e. schedule changes, testing materials, etc.)
- Maintain a variety of files and/or records to ensure the accurate retrieval of data for reporting purposes (i.e. student data, testing materials, etc.)
- Work closely and cooperatively with a variety of site-based personnel
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- High School education or equivalent

- Moderate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; above average test battery
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

- Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative and meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with students, parents, district personnel of all levels and general public; to be tactful and diplomatic at all times; to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents and district personnel of all levels
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Typically works in the school’s front office, administration office, or main reception area
- May occasionally require extra hours during enrollment periods or special events
- Work may involve interruptions and multitasking in a moderately busy setting
- Interaction with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and sometimes vendors or service providers
- Desk-based tasks like typing, filing, managing records, and answering phones
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, filing, using a phone, or operating office equipment like copiers and printers
- May need to occasionally lift or move light office supplies or boxes (typically under 25 lbs.)
