Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Field Mechanic position is to diagnose and repair various types of engines, hydraulics and electrical issues on heavy equipment, small equipment, trucks, trailers, and attachments.
This is a full-time, union position and will include local travel as well as potential for out-of-state travel. Start and stop times may vary due to equipment and job site needs. This position reports to the Vice President of Equipment/Facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Supervisor on what parts are needed, ordering parts, and installing parts.
- Welding and fabricating.
- Keep shop facilities, trucks, supplies and tools neat and orderly.
- Clean up after repairs.
- DOT physical and random drug/alcohol testing.
- Wear proper protective equipment.
- Notify supervisor of all accidents, injuries and/or driving violations.
- Observe all OSHA and company safety policies.
- Follow all applicable company, state and federal safety procedures and laws.
- Perform scheduled oil changes.
- Perform multiple tasks on various job sites daily.
- Attend various training classes recommended by the company.

Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED required.
- DOT certified vehicle inspector.
- Class A CDL and health certificate.
- Ability to lift up-to 80 pounds.
- Repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
- Supply adequate tools to perform duties.
- Note: This is a safety sensitive position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work hours may vary due to job specifics and weather. The position requires working outside and in shop facilities in various weather conditions (ex. cold, rain, mud, and heat). Work conditions are not always ideal with having to crawl under, around and on equipment. Local and out-of-state travel may be required for this position. All technical and physical conditions may not need to be met but must be stated and addressed prior to employment.
