What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Architect position at DOB & EEL Design Studio?
Company Description DOB & EEL Design Studio is a small, highly experienced design practice based in Austin, Texas. We focus on custom residential architecture while also working on interior design and select small-scale commercial projects. We do remodels, multi-room additions, and ground-up new builds, supported by state-of-the-art digital tools and a rigorous design process. We emphasizes site-specific design, drawing inspiration from local conditions, plant life, and natural light. Collaboration with clients and project partners is central to our process, and each project is approached as a unique creative opportunity.
Role Description We are seeking a 1099 freelance architect to help us on a part-time, flexible basis. Must have license or be seeking a license. You would collaborate closely with the studio principals to develop concept designs, schematic layouts, and detailed construction documents for custom residential projects. Day-to-day tasks include site analysis, code and zoning research, preparing drawings and 3D models, coordinating details with engineers and consultants, and refining designs in response to client feedback. The role also involves participating in client meetings, preparing presentations, supporting permitting submissions, and assisting with managing project timelines and deliverables. The ideal candidate will contribute creative, context-sensitive design ideas while maintaining technical accuracy and clear communication throughout each project phase.
