Responsibilities
- Conduct landscape maintenance and landscaping activities to preserve the aesthetic and functional quality of recreation sites
- Assist with ecological restoration efforts, including habitat enhancement and invasive species control
- Operate GPS devices, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other mapping tools to document site conditions and plan improvements
- Perform tree care tasks such as trimming, pruning, and hazard assessment to ensure safety and promote healthy growth
- Maintain recreational infrastructure including trails, signage, picnic areas, and facilities using hand tools and power tools
- Collect data related to land conditions, visitor usage, and ecological parameters for reporting and planning purposes
- Support construction projects related to trail development, facility upgrades, or habitat restoration while adhering to safety standards
Skills
- Experience in landscape maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture with a focus on natural environments
- Supervising experience overseeing crew activities or project tasks in outdoor settings
- Proficiency with GIS technology, GPS navigation, and data collection methods for land management purposes
- Knowledge of ecological restoration techniques and habitat management practices
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, heavy machinery, and commercial driving vehicles safely and efficiently
- Skilled in tree care practices including trimming, pruning, and hazard mitigation
- Familiarity with construction processes related to trail building or infrastructure installation
- Strong physical ability for heavy lifting, outdoor work in various weather conditions, and long periods of standing or walking
