We are now hiring a gas fuser/laborer for our Austin Dry Utilities Department.
The gas fuser/laborer will install mainline poly gas lines by joining pipes using fusion or electrofusion. They will prepare and align pipes, operate fusion equipment, and ensure worksite safety and cleanliness. The role requires strong physical stamina and attention to detail to create safe, leak-proof joints.
A work week averages 40 to 60 hours. This job is labor-intensive, and you will be working outside!

- 2- 3 years of experience with poly gas line installations with electrofusion and pipefitting procedures.
- Strong understanding of heating and cooling times for proper pipefitting.
- Must not have a bad record with gas companies, including disqualifications, leaks found in wells, not doing what is being told, or any points on OQs.
- Provide proof of OQs with prior companies, pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel with an overnight stay is sometimes required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Construct, install, and maintain piping systems for natural gas utilities by joining pipe sections using fusion or electrofusion.
- Operate fusion equipment and other tools, such as welding machines or cutting torches, to install gas mains and services.
- Prepare the pipe and the worksite for installation, which may include digging trenches, aligning pipes, and sanding pipe ends.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite, secure the work area, and follow all safety regulations.
- Maintain all necessary paperwork and documentation, including operator qualifications.
