What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Interior Designer position at DNB Renovations?
JUNIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER
In-house, on a growing residential design-build team
New York, NY Full-time, in-office $45,000–$52,000 a year
ABOUT THE ROLE
DNB Renovations is a residential design-build firm working on high-end renovations across Manhattan, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Long Island. We are building out our in-house design department and looking for a junior interior designer to grow with it. You will work closely with our designers, project managers, and build team, and see how a project moves from the first client meeting through to construction. It is a real seat on a small team where the work you do matters, and a good place to build a career in residential design.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support our designers across active projects, from concept through construction
- Build mood boards and presentations, and help put material selections together
- Research and source furniture, lighting, finishes, and fixtures, and get pricing from vendors
- Keep the materials library, samples, and order tracking organized so nothing slips
- Help prepare drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Prepare for client meetings, sit in, and take notes
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and vendors as projects move
- Visit sites to document progress and check the build against the design
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A degree in interior design or a related field, or one you’re finishing
- Zero to two years of experience; internships count
- A portfolio that shows how you think and what you can do
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
- A feel for residential materials, finishes, and space planning
- Organized, clear in communication, and on top of the details
- Eager to learn and ready to take on real ownership over time
WHAT WE OFFER
- $45,000 to $52,000 a year, depending on experience
- Mentorship directly from the Head of Design
- High-end residential work across Manhattan, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Long Island
- Exposure to every phase, from concept to construction
- Room to grow as the department grows
HOW TO APPLY
Send us your resume, your portfolio, and any work samples you’re proud of. We want to see how you think, not just what you’ve finished.
