Area Safety Manager is an Influential position dedicated to the development, implementation, and promotion of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment for multiple locations within an assigned area. Coordinates with the Corporate Safety department and local management in the development and implementation of dnata's One Safety program to promote a proactive safety culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of safety policies and procedures to be followed by Company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal occupational safety and health, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, facilities, fire prevention, safety and environmental programs
  • Leads hazard/risk analysis efforts and assists in the identification of mitigation methods.
  • Performs an assurance function as it relates to the entire training evolution classroom, OJT and recurrent.
  • Conducts observations, inspections, and audits. Prepares reports and communicates unsafe findings to appropriate authorities addressing root causes and determining corrective action.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies and meeting compliance requirements from our customers.
  • Supports and drives the investigation of near misses, incidents, and coordinates the preparation of material and evidence to identify root causes for the purpose of developing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain files and records as necessary.
  • Provides direction, management, technical expertise and training to support our IMS and SMS programs.
  • Chairs base safety board - at home location
  • Proactively performs graphical and numerical analysis of hazards, near misses and incidents to determine trends. Provides recommendations to senior management in an effort to achieve the safest environment possible.
  • Review/approve planning, design, and modification of materials processes, operations, personnel changes or building layouts affecting all aspects of the IMS/SMS. Management of Change Process
  • Is able to meet the Station's attendance standards.
  • Position reports to the Director of Safety Systems – Dotted line to Area General Manager
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in the aviation industry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and able to quickly adapt to proprietary systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring Human Factors and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
  • Formal training or demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis, incident investigations, and corrective/preventative action planning (CAPA) in a high-paced operational environment.
  • Formal training or demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments with the ability to identify hazards, evaluate operational risks, and implement effective control measures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities, competing deadlines, and multiple station safety programs simultaneously.
  • Basic analytical skills to interpret data trends, quantify risk levels, and support data-driven safety decision-making.
  • Technical knowledge of ground handling operations preferred.
  • Familiarity with IATA (ISAGO), OSHA, and local aviation authority regulations preferred.
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
  • Possess/maintain a valid State driver's license and other FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations.
  • Must be flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Specific shifts to be determined by administrative staff due to operational needs.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during irregular operation.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
