What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Trailer Pump Operator Journeyman position at DN?
The Concrete Trailer Pump Operator Journeyman is responsible for the use and maintenance of the pump assigned to
each job as well as continuing to train on prestressing operations. The Concrete Trailer Pump Operator Journeyman is
responsible for completing all work required throughout the phases of the tank building process. The
Pump Operator Journeyman shall set the pace of work and assist other local workers with knowledge
and guidance for performing the work safely and with quality. The Pump Operator Journeyman is
responsible for managing the following tasks at the direction of the Superintendent, Assistant
Superintendent, and Foreman.
Runs and maintains concrete pump as a lead.
Operates a pump including the setup and cleanup of the equipment.
Inspects the clamps and safety pins for all concrete/shotcrete hose.
Trains entry level pump operator apprentices.
Performs pump maintenance with the assistance of the pump operator mechanic.
Completes required pump inspections and documentation.
Understands concrete mix designs, admixtures and their uses.
Performs a slump test, make a set of cylinders, and perform a Chase Air Meter test.
Properly fills out a concrete/shotcrete recap sheet.
Performs prestressing duties such as:
Setting up equipment and installing spacers
Pulling dies
Installing splices
Taking wire readings
Paints tanks and install appurtenances.
Maintains certification through on the job training for proper use of tools and equipment.
Takes personal responsibility with maintaining a clean, well-organized and hazard free pump area and overall jobsite work area.
Obtains all tools and materials necessary to perform each task related to keeping pump clean and properly maintained.
Utilizes the drawings, construction manual, and quality control manual in line with work they are performing.
Understands and incorporates tolerances found in the Construction Manual.
Establishes and executes DN University training goals with assistance from the Field Operations Manager.
Plans safety into each operation and identifies or removes hazards immediately as part of the task without being asked.
Completes assignments in a timely fashion with little supervision; ask for additional information when tasks or assignments are unclear and supports the daily plan.
Understands the tank building process and can identify the next tasks to be completed in the process.
Assists in checking grade and subgrade elevations using level or transit.
Assists with the shoring erection, bracing, dismantling, and load out of shoring materials.
Learns to read and interpret tank and shoring drawings.
Assists with assembling pipe and fabrication of forms for pipe pits.
Installs Appurtenances.
Trains apprentices.
Follows safety procedures and understands DN Tanks safety policies.
Participates in the review of the task hazard analysis (THA).
Identifies safety hazards and participates in the Award of Excellence (AOE) Program.
Promotes clean, safe work practices by watching over other employees while performing work.
Follows quality control (QC) program, understands construction tolerances, and reports any quality defects immediately.
Maintains all certifications in compliance with DN Tanks Safety & Equipment Programs.
Loads out the tank including braces, shoring, etc.
Assists with shoring Installation.
