IBM Db2 Database Administrator – Job Details
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
·Perform maintenance and troubleshooting for multiple IBM Db2 databases (LUW or z/OS). Diagnose and resolve Db2-specific issues such as utility failures, locking conflicts, buffer pool problems, and catalog inconsistencies.
Database Monitoring:
·Regularly monitor Db2 databases using tools like Db2 Monitoring Console, db2pd, db2top, and system views. Check for lock escalations, deadlocks, long-running applications, failed updates, and tablespace utilization.
Data & Log File Management:
·Oversee Db2 tablespaces, containers, storage groups, and transaction logs. Manage log file growth, log archiving, and recovery configurations (LOGARCHMETH1/2).
User Access & Security:
·Manage Db2 logins, roles, and privileges. Configure authentication and authorization using Db2’s built-in security model or external systems (LDAP, Kerberos).
Performance Tuning:
·Optimize Db2 performance through index design, buffer pool tuning, RUNSTATS, REORG, package/application tuning, and configuration parameter adjustments.
Recovery:
·Implement and manage Db2 backup and recovery strategies using online/backups, rollforward recovery, or HADR environments.
Documentation & Compliance:
·Maintain detailed documentation of Db2 configurations, maintenance routines, troubleshooting history, and compliance procedures."
