Job Summary
The Production Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company's quality standards and specifications. This role involves training Production QC Inspectors, oversee inspection and documentation of bulk, components, and finished products throughout the production process, and working with the production team to swiftly and effectively resolve any production quality issues. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a thorough understanding of quality control processes, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Product Inspection, Documentation & Reporting:
- Oversee visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of bulk, components, and finished products to ensure they meet required quality standards
- Ensure that products comply with company and regulatory standards, including safety and industry-specific requirements
- Ensure regular sampling and testing of products to ensure consistency and quality across finished good lots
- Review inspection results, identifying and reporting any defects or deviations from standards
- Relay production quality non-conformances to relevant stakeholders, Initiate root cause analysis of production quality non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Ensure various measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) are used to check product specifications and tolerances
- Ensure that all measurement and testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and repaired
- Training:
- Complete SOP training for all production quality control inspectors
- Conduct on-going training on quality systems and controls
- Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct periodic audits of production processes to ensure compliance with internal quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance quality control processes, reduce defects, and improve production efficiency.
- Participate in quality improvement teams and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Ensure that all quality control activities are carried out in compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Quality Control Inspection, Quality Assurance, or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality control standards, inspection techniques, and measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or discrepancies in products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle and resolve quality issues.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality control software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Quality Control (e.g., CQI, Six Sigma).
- Experience with automated inspection systems or other advanced quality control technologies.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
