About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking an Applications Programmer, Level III (Appian) to provide a senior, certified Appian professional responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex business process management applications on the Appian low-code platform, and for administering the program's Appian instance. The role owns operations and maintenance of a production portfolio of regulatory review workflows and mentors less experienced developers. Appian platform experience is mandatory and cannot be substituted with experience on other low-code or business process management platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex business process management applications on the Appian low-code platform.
  • Administer the program's Appian instance, including cloud platform administration, environment configuration, and deployment management.
  • Deliver operations and maintenance support, bug fixes, and minor enhancements of under 200 hours to a production portfolio of approximately 26 active Appian workflows supporting multiple regulatory program offices.
  • Configure and optimize workflow processes, forms, records, and interfaces to support regulatory review, content management, and search functions.
  • Integrate Appian workflows with external application programming interfaces, content management repositories, forms management platforms, and messaging services.
  • Lead and mentor less experienced developers, providing technical direction and code review on Appian development standards.
  • Implement artificial intelligence and large language model capabilities within Appian workflows to automate document processing and data extraction.
  • Support release planning, unit and integration testing, Section 508 accessibility remediation, and release package preparation under the agency's lifecycle process.
Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field. An additional four years of directly relevant application development experience may substitute for the degree.
  • 8 or more years of application development experience, including 5 or more years of hands-on Appian development.
  • Current Appian certification. The contract requires a certified, senior-level professional without naming a specific credential; DMI's screening standard is Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer.
  • Demonstrated Appian platform administration experience, including Appian Cloud environment administration, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and enhancing a production portfolio of Appian process models and applications in an operations and maintenance context.
  • Experience integrating Appian with external systems through application programming interfaces and web services.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to other Appian developers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk (Tier 2) Public Trust background investigation and a government PIV credential.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience with Appian 25.x on Appian Cloud platform-as-a-service.
