The Opportunity

Our client — a highly respected manufacturer and distributor within the wood products and specialty materials industry — is looking to add an Outside Sales Representative to support and grow their territory throughout the GTA and surrounding region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a consultative and driven sales professional who enjoys balancing strategic business development with long-term account management. The organization is known for its strong reputation within the industry, collaborative culture, and commitment to building lasting customer partnerships.

They’re looking for someone who is proactive, commercially minded, personable, and highly organized — someone with ambition, a hunter mentality, and the drive to uncover new opportunities while continuing to nurture and expand existing relationships. This territory is well established with strong existing accounts and long-standing customer relationships, while still offering significant untapped growth potential across the market.

This role offers close collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership teams while supporting customers across distribution and OEM channels.

The Role

  • Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with distribution and OEM customers throughout the assigned territory.
  • Drive new business development through strategic territory planning, market analysis, and proactive customer engagement.
  • Partner closely with inside sales to support quoting, communication, and overall account execution.
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations, and territory travel to strengthen partnerships and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Provide pricing, product availability, lead times, and solution-based product recommendations to customers.
  • Manage territory performance including margins, forecasting, sales volume, and overall account growth.
  • Stay current on market trends, competitive activity, manufacturing capabilities, and pricing changes.
  • Coordinate with operations, supply chain, plants, and leadership teams to support customer success.
  • Assist customers with service concerns, claims resolution, logistics coordination, and ongoing account management.
  • Maintain detailed CRM activity, forecasts, reporting, and customer updates.
  • Coordinate customer mill visits, tours, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers while aligning with company goals and values.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3 years of outside sales experience within wood products, building materials, manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Strong business development and hunter mentality with the ability to grow both existing and prospective accounts.
  • Experience managing relationships within distribution, OEM, industrial, architectural woodworking, or construction-related channels is considered a strong asset.
  • Highly driven, ambitious, and self-motivated with the ability to independently manage a territory in a remote environment.
  • Personable and relationship-oriented with strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and customer needs.
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of margins, territory planning, and sales performance metrics.
  • Customer-focused with a solutions-oriented and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with operations, inside sales, manufacturing, and leadership teams.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory (up to 40%).
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Wood Technology, or a related field is considered an asset but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $125,000–$145,000 bonus structure, health/dental benefits, and additional company perks.

Salary : $125,000 - $145,000
