Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, maintains cleanliness of anesthesia equipment and general work area. Maintains anesthesia supplies at prescribed levels. Assists in the maintenance and minor repair of anesthesia equipment. Assists departmental personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies requirements. Retrieves equipment. Distributes correspondence and other related materials to assigned locations.
Removes and discards disposable anesthesia accessories after each surgical procedure. Restocks disposables; prepares anesthesia machines with standard supplies prior to next case and at the end of the shift. Assists in and retrieves departmental equipment from other areas in the hospital. Collaborates with biomedical technical personnel and assists in performing minor repairs of anesthesia equipment. Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles anesthesia machines, carts, and other reusable equipment on a regular basis. Maintains logs as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to read, write and understand English.
2. One to three months on-the-job training.
Skills Required
1. Analytical ability to gather and interpret data, to identify discrepancies, problems, or issues; to obtain advice when precedents are unclear or unavailable and to maintain compliance with service policies and procedures.
2. Communication and/or interpersonal skills for routine contacts with internal and some external customers/stakeholders to discuss primarily factual information. Some discretion and conflict resolution skills are exercised, primarily with people within the unit/function. Courtesy and listening skills are required. The ability to read and comprehend procedures and technical literature in specific functional area is necessary.
Physical/Mental Demands
Physical ability to stand and/or walk majority of the time; push and/or pull up to 100 pounds; lift to 50 pounds and stoop as required.
Requires physical and mechanical ability to clean and perform minor repairs on anesthesia equipment.
