Newborn Care Specialist

Overview

A warm, accomplished, and intensely private family based between Las Vegas and Southern California are joyfully preparing to welcome their first child this autumn. Both parents intend to take meaningful leave and are eager to be deeply involved in their baby’s early months.

They are seeking a highly experienced Newborn Care Specialist to support their family primarily overnight for the first four months, allowing them to rest, recover, and be fully present with their newborn during the day.

The family communicates with kindness and directness. They view feedback as a tool that unifies the team and keeps the flow of the home all the smoother.

The ideal NCS will be supportive and warm, instinctively knowing the delicate balance between aiding eager new parents in the background and fully taking the lead, particularly during the night shift. Experience with similar fully staffed homes is a plus, as is assistance with establishing breastfeeding, and the ability to set up the nursery ahead of time, making vital recommendations on the most beneficial items to secure.

Position Details

◆  Four-month contract, commencing late October

◆  Night shift, approximately 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, seven nights per week

◆  Domestic travel required between the Las Vegas and Southern California residences

◆  In the event of a surgical delivery or extended maternal recovery, additional daytime hours may be requested at the same hourly rate

◆  Flexibility to extend hours is welcomed and compensated accordingly

Responsibilities

◆  Full-charge care of the newborn during overnight hours, allowing the parents uninterrupted rest and recovery

◆  Soothing, feeding, diapering, and supporting healthy sleep development from the earliest days

◆  Monitoring baby’s wellbeing with attentiveness and calm, including feeding cues and developmental milestones

◆  Assisting the family in preparing the nursery ahead of baby’s arrival

◆  Offering experienced recommendations on essential supplies, equipment, and layout

◆  Ensuring the nursery is consistently stocked, organized, and ready for a smooth handoff each evening

◆  Documenting actions, observations, and changes in a clear nightly log — feedings, diapers, sleep patterns, and any notes of importance

◆  Providing superior, thoughtful communication with the parents and any daytime caregivers to ensure a seamless handoff

◆  Flagging concerns early and respectfully, with the baby’s wellbeing always at the center

◆  Infant laundry, including washing, folding, and putting away

◆  Bottle washing, sterilizing, and preparation

◆  Basic tidying of the nursery and feeding areas

Qualifications

◆  Minimum three years of professional experience as a Newborn Care Specialist in private homes

◆  Stellar references from multiple previous NCS engagements

◆  Legally authorized to work in the United States

◆  Current Infant CPR and First Aid certifications

◆  Up-to-date on vaccinations

◆  Proficient swimmer with comfort around water and infant water safety awareness; both residences have pools

◆  Able to pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal, credit, and reference verification

◆  Strict confidentiality and willingness to sign a non-disclosure agreement

◆  Non-smoker and non-vaper, both on and off duty

◆  Schedule flexibility to accommodate additional hours, with corresponding compensation, if needed

◆  Up-to-date on all vaccinations related to infant care: recent Tdap, Covid-19, influenza, and immunity from recent or childhood inoculations of common vaccines: MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B 

◆   Able to lift and carry an infant, along with feeding and care equipment, up to approximately 30 pounds

◆ Comfortable with periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and floor-level care, and able to climb stairs and move comfortably between rooms during the night

Compensation and Benefits

◆  $65 – $75 per hour, depending on experience

◆  Guaranteed minimum contract value of $87,360 – $100,800, calculated on twelve hours per day; actual earnings are expected to run higher across the full four-month engagement

◆  Temporary furnished housing provided in each location for the duration of the contract

◆  Transportation provided at the start and end of the engagement
