DLZ Corporation is seeking Field Technicians for projects in Michigan! This is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and work hard in a dynamic environment. DLZ will provide the necessary training for you to succeed in this role.
What You'll Do:
- Perform field sampling, testing, and inspection of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete on active construction sites
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and testing requirements
- Accurately collect, document, and report field data and daily construction quantities
- Communicate effectively with contractors, owners, and internal team members
- Maintain assigned vehicles, testing equipment, and safety standards
- Follow all DLZ health, safety, and public safety procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of materials testing experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Required certifications/training:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level I
- Nuclear Densometer Safety Training
- MDOT Density Control Certification
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, and ability to pass background check and drug testing (including marijuana)
- Ability to safely traverse active construction sites and comply with all safety requirements
- Willingness to travel throughout Michigan and the tri-state area.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points!):
- Experience with Metafield or similar reporting software
- OSHA 10 Hour or MUST Safety certification
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level II
- MDOT Aggregate Sampling and/or Inspection Certification (Level I)
- MDOT HMA Sampling Certification
- Experience with Floor Flatness testing
