Tree Climber

Pay Range: $18.00 - $26.00 DOE.

Summary of Job:
Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the tree maintenance of properties. Carefully manage and manicure trees for clients. Must be able to operate a variety of light to medium power-driven equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for proper use of proper pruning techniques to trim and reshape trees to maintain the health of the tree and/or remove low-hanging branches that obstruct views.
• Cut away dead or excess tree branches and clear branches from power lines, streets or sidewalks.
• Operate trimming and chipping equipment.
• Perform skilled and unskilled maintenance work involving strenuous tasks.

Job Skills/Requirements:

• Experience in tree/landscape maintenance preferred
• Ability to safely operate small pieces of equipment (power and hand tools)
• Ability to safely operate chipper, stump grinder, chainsaw, aerial lift, tree truck, pole saw, blower, weed eater, etc.
• Knowledge of tree identification, proper pruning techniques and equipment
• Ability to speak some Spanish/English a plus

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

• Able to lift 60 lbs. to waist level and drag up to 80 lbs. (materials may need to be lifted, carried and/or pushed)
• Able to walk/stand for long periods of time
• Able to reach, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, squat, crouch and grasp along with repetitive movements may be part of your daily job duties

Environmental Factors:

• Contact with various plants, flowers and chemicals
• Must be able to work in summer and winter climates including extreme heat in the summer
