A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
B. Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands: In the performance of investigations, inventory and location surveys, the incumbent is required to research, survey and/or count all types of material some which are heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which are stored in high-level locations. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing, and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Depending on the availability of equipment and depot location it may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan or pick-up truck to move between work sites.
Work Environment: In the performance of investigations, inventory and location surveys, the incumbent is required to research, survey and/or count all types of material, some which are heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which are stored in high-level locations. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Depending on the availability of equipment and depot location, it may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites.
