Job Summary
The Distribution Assistant will support Material Handlers in the receipt, handling, storage, and documentation of raw materials, components, supplies, and finished products. This role requires operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks while ensuring compliance with safety and procedural standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to and actively promote the company’s safety culture; non-compliance may result in immediate disciplinary action or termination.
- Assist Material Specialists in the handling and documentation of inventory, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain technical training on all required certifications, including cGMP, HAZMAT, and forklift operation.
- Perform routine cleaning of the warehouse and loading dock areas, including sweeping, scrubbing floors, dusting walls and door panels, and disposing of trash.
- Follow warehouse and loading dock cleaning SOPs and accurately document cleaning activities.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and talking/hearing.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, and extreme cold (working in a -25°C freezer).
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high locations, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- GMP experience is a must.
- Prior shipping and receiving experience.
- Ability to work assigned shifts and overtime as required.
- Capability to meet physical demands and work in the described environment.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive approach, and self-motivation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biologics/pharmaceutical manufacturing under cGMP guidelines.
- Forklift certification or experience operating a forklift.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar inventory tracking systems.
Additional Requirements
- Forklift certification is required.
- Contractors must adhere to AstraZeneca’s PPE guidelines, which prohibit makeup, jewelry, nail polish, fake nails, and eyelash extensions.
- Vision Requirements: Must have at least 20/40 vision, standard depth perception, and normal color vision (color blindness is disqualifying). A vision exam will be conducted onsite by the AstraZeneca nurse.
