Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coat & Wet Paint Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coatings and wet paints to a variety of metal and fabricated parts, ensuring they meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in surface preparation, coating application, and finishing processes will contribute to the production of durable, visually appealing products. Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface preparation techniques suitable for construction painting and fabrication projects.
- Operate powder coating equipment and spray guns for applying durable powder finishes with precision and consistency.
- Use conventional spray guns and airless paint spraying equipment for wet paint applications on various components.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing during all coating processes.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, cranes, hand tools, and materials handling equipment to move parts efficiently within the manufacturing environment.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and quality inspections to ensure coatings meet specified standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production processes, inspection reports, and compliance with quality standards in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with powder coating, industrial painting, or construction painting surface preparation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of coating application techniques including airless spray guns, conventional spraying methods, and auto body repair painting is preferred.
- Familiarity with machining, fabrication, welding, auto painting, and assembly processes will be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret production documents such as work orders, process sheets, and technical specifications accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols including PPE use and respiratory protection requirements in an industrial setting.
- Warehouse experience or familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Valid forklift certification or experience operating cranes is beneficial but not mandatory.
