Role Description
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Wake Forest, NC. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work arrangement (approximately 1–2 days per week in-office for collaboration, with the remainder remote). In this role, you will work under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer on the design and analysis of retaining wall structures from concept through construction. You will produce detailed engineering drawings and calculations, leveraging proprietary design software, AutoCAD, and other tools, while ensuring designs meet applicable codes and project requirements. The Design Engineer will collaborate closely with our team and clients to deliver cost-effective retaining wall solutions and provide technical support during the construction phase.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read and extract information from civil grading plans, roadway/highway plans, and bridge plans
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, load analysis, and material properties (concrete, steel, and soil)
- Familiarity with project management tools, document control, and quality assurance processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to project-specific requirements
- Licensure as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred but not required. Progress toward or interest in obtaining professional licensure (P.E.) is a plus.
- Experience with retaining walls, precast structures, or geotechnical design is a plus
