The Assistant Clinical Manager supports the Clinical Manager in overseeing site operations, participates in all services, and is trained in the full scope of Clinical Manager duties to provide coverage when needed. Assistant Clinical Managers in this role must:
- Hold a current North Carolina license (provisional or full) as LCSW(-A), LCMHC(-A), LMFT(-A),
- Be under required board supervision if provisionally licensed, and maintain active licensure in good
- Be willing and able to perform Diagnostic Assessments (DAs) and Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCAs) to support intake and access-to-care benchmarks
- Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT)
- Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP)
- Tailored Care Management (TCM)
- Intensive In-Home (IIH)
- Peer Support Services (PSS)
- Outpatient Therapy (OPT)
- Any additional DSIS programs developed in the future, in-person or virtual
Clinical Operations Support
- Participate in all programs and services at the assigned site
- Conduct DAs and CCAs and any necessary clinical documentation to support access-to-care goals
- Deliver therapy services (individual, group, family) based on assigned program
- Assist with treatment plan development and review
- Support supervision of QPs, APs, PP’s, and CADCs
- Provide onboarding, mentoring, and training for new staff
- Assist with performance reviews and development planning
- Help coordinate the site’s access-to-care model for timely client onboarding
- Assist in implementing site-wide clinical initiatives and new program rollouts
- Support coverage and caseload management across services
- Ensure documentation meets Medicaid, NCDHHS, and DSIS standards for timeliness and accuracy
- Participate in chart audits, quality reviews, and compliance monitoring
- Respond to client crises per DSIS protocol
- Assist in creating crisis plans with clients and caregivers
- Maintain flexibility to work across all services at the assigned site
- Cover Clinical Manager duties as needed
- Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- BH I/DD Tailored Plan eligibility and services
- Whole-person health and unmet resource needs
- Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI/NCI)
- HIPAA and Confidentiality
- First Aid / CPR
- Documentation standards and Medicaid compliance
- CEU completion and clinical supervision participation
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or related
- Minimum two years post-graduate supervised experience providing behavioral health services preferred
- Active NC license or provisional license:
○ LCMHC-A / LCMHC
○ LMFT-A / LMFT
○ LCAS-A / LCAS
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must maintain NCI, Community First Aid/CPR, and any other certifications required by DSIS
- 100% compliance with documentation and Medicaid billing standards
- Successful completion of training in all Clinical Manager duties within defined timelines
- Positive outcomes in client care based on treatment plan goal achievement
- Timely completion of assessments with 90% accuracy and submission rate
