We are seeking an experienced DANCE (and SINGING) teacher to implement a dynamic and rigorous dance curriculum. Our Dance teacher will utilize the Florida CPALMS grade-level standards for Fine Arts, as well as other resources as a guide to develop sound and effective grade-level Art lesson plans and units.
Job Summary:
The Dance Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in various forms of dance and movement, teach bodily-kinesthetic terms, and use skills and techniques of artistic dance expression consistent with state guidelines; to develop understanding and appreciation related to dance; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of dance.
Job Description:
- Teach knowledge and skills in dance, including modern and classical forms, and expose students to dance history
- Instruct students in citizenship and character-building
- Provide instruction by which students develop dance concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about types of dance
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
- Instruct students in proper care and use of costumes, props, and equipment
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and
- understanding, and measure progress via grade reporting
- Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records
- Plan and present dance recitals designed to showcase students’ work for the school and the community
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Communicate with parents and school personnel on pupil progressThe ideal candidate will have these qualities:
- Bachelor of Education degree
- One - three years Dance teaching experience
- Proactive, respectful, and consistent classroom management
- Team-oriented and has excellent collaboration skills
- Self-motivated, goal-driven, and takes initiative
- Competent in using and integrating technology
- Reflective and receptive to feedback for professional growth
