The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for day-to-day HR operations and administering of HR programs for Dixon Ticonderoga Company. You will execute HR tasks and projects, resolve operational issues, and ensure continuous improvement in the service delivery of HR operations. This position is a key business partner for the group at our Appleton, Wisconsin facility. The ideal Human Resources Business Partner candidate will have well-rounded HR experience in a manufacturing environment. You will manage and lead tasks related to company culture, employee relations, training, recruiting, retention, compliance, and other areas of Human Resources. This position reports to the Corporate HR Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all functional areas of HR, such as recruiting and staffing, retention, training, compliance with state and federal laws, employee relations, talent management, compensation, and safety.
  • Serve as primary contact and resource for employees and leaders to address HR issues, questions and concerns while maintaining good working relationships and building credibility with employees and leaders.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management/employee relations guidance and coaching for the group. Specific activities may include coaching, career development, interpreting employee policies and contracts, compensation recommendations, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing solution(s); coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Conduct/Review highly confidential assignments and projects related to employee relation issues including investigations, facilitating disciplinary meetings, and providing consultative advice. This includes building relationships with management and employees and conducting /documenting investigative interviews.
  • Provide guidance to managers in consideration of employment law and regulations.
  • Manage, develop, and lead recruitment strategy/process for seasonal, exempt, and non-exempt workforce.
  • Manage and lead onboarding and orientation for new employees.
  • Create and analyze Human Resources Information System data on employee headcount, total compensation, turnover, etc.
  • Maintain personnel information for client group and provides support for payroll processing.
  • Assist with the administration of Safety and Workers' Compensation program. Ensure the prompt and proper filing of claims.
  • Assist with the administration of benefits and other programs such as insurance, disability, FMLA, vacation, sick leave, and employee assistance.
  • Assist Human Resources Director with design, implementation, and delivery of training to employees as needed.
  • Administer various Human Resources plans and procedures for the company; assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures; ensuring compliance with employment laws and practices. This position will also be responsible for ensuring effective communication of these policies to the organization.
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Participate and assist in projects with a high degree of confidentiality and other highly sensitive initiatives.  Examples include Assist with the facilitation efforts surrounding organization design, talent review, and succession planning. Participate with benchmarking efforts such as compensation.
  • Continue to develop expertise in HR functional areas. Seek development opportunities to improve professional competencies and stays current on innovations in HR practices through benchmarking, networking, and exposure to research/publications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior Human Resources Generalist work experience in a production/manufacturing environment. Union environment experience a plus
  • SHRM-CP (PHR) or SHRM-SCP (SPHR) certification a plus
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of employment laws and regulations
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the organization
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or management
  • Ability to manage conflict and perform comfortably in a changing, fast paced environment
  • Manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems. Experience with UKG Pro a plus.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Works well independently, yet is cooperative in collaborating with team members
  •  Understands diversity and the importance of fostering an open and respectful work environment
