🔬 What You'll Do
- Perform meticulous preparation of metal samples (cutting, grinding, polishing) for various tests.
- Operate and maintain Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES) and other analytical equipment to determine the chemical composition of raw materials and finished castings.
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration checks on all lab equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Execute Tensile and Hardness Tests (e.g., Brinell, Rockwell) on cast metal samples to confirm mechanical properties meet specifications.
- Record, analyze, and interpret test results, promptly reporting any deviations or non-conformances to the Quality and Production teams.
- Perform microscopic evaluation of metal structure to assess nodularity and metallographic structure.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, analyses, and material certifications.
- Assist in maintaining the laboratory's quality management system, adhering to ISO 9001 standards and internal safety protocols.
- Support problem-solving initiatives related to material quality and process control.
- An Associate's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- 1-3 years of experience working in a quality control lab, preferably within a manufacturing, metals, or foundry environment.
- Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Spectrometers (OES).
- Proficiency in performing standard mechanical property tests (Tensile, Hardness).
- Strong math and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and data.
- Familiarity with lab safety procedures and handling of chemicals and hot materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
