Summary:
A Student Success Advisor plays a pivotal role in guiding students toward achieving their academic and career goals. The Advisor will support students in helping them create goals and plans to be successful in their chosen program. In addition, the Advisor is responsible for the tracking of student progress and attendance. The Advisor is passionate about student success, possesses excellent communication skills, and is adept at building relationships.
Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 29 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
Hours: This position will work 28 hours a week during normal business hours. These hours will be scheduled between 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday.
Pay: The position pays between $20 - $24 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized academic advising to a diverse student population to help students determine programs that align with career goals.
- Offer resources that could help them be successful in the program (i.e., mental health resources, community resources, and student food pantry)
- Develop and implement individualized success plans for students, continuously track and evaluate progress to ensure students remain on track.
- Assist in the student disciplinary process.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, document advising interactions and milestones.
- Collaborate with Student Services personnel and program instructors to ensure that correct information is provided to students.
- Utilize data to track students, find patterns, and improve the student success process.
- Track the effectiveness of student retention efforts and make suggestions for improvements.
- Attend and participate in faculty staff meetings, Occupational Advisory Committee meetings, and new student orientations as assigned
- Suggest initiatives to support student success in career readiness.
- Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth or pregnancy-related conditions, and actively promote a culture of tolerance, acceptance and diversity on campus. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student Services

Requirements and Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience in academic advisement or related field preferred
- Bachelor's Degree required, in a field related to education, counseling, or student affairs preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced educational environment
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethical considerations in handling student information
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Expertise in presenting in front of groups
- Capability to lead a meeting and ensure that the agenda is followed
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
