Job Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. We are a precision machining and industrial repair company serving the steel, power generation, cement, mining, pulp and paper, and industrial manufacturing industries. This position involves machining large, one-off and short-run industrial parts rather than repetitive production work. The ideal candidate can work independently from drawings, set up difficult parts, select tooling, program and edit Fanuc controls at the machine, and inspect their own work. Experience operating a CNC horizontal boring mill is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and horizontal boring mills
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot Fanuc CNC programs at the machine control
- Set up and indicate large parts, weldments, castings, and repair components
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds
- Make offsets and adjustments at the machine
- Perform drilling, boring, milling, facing, and related machining operations
- Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments
- Maintain required tolerances and surface finishes
- Safely operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- Previous experience setting up and operating CNC machine tools
- Fanuc programming experience is required
- Must be able to write, edit, and troubleshoot Fanuc programs at the machine control
- Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances
- Experience using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, indicators, and other inspection equipment
- Knowledge of machining practices, tooling, speeds, feeds, and workholding
- Ability to perform machine setups without relying on CAM software
- Horizontal boring mill experience is preferred
- Manual machining experience is a plus
- Experience machining large industrial parts is a plus
- Overhead crane and forklift experience is a plus
