This is an entry-level position that will work no more than 1000 hours. This employee performs various manual labor-type tasks at the work site to assist crew members, such as loading and unloading supplies and materials, cutting brush, digging ditches, and preparing materials for the Linemen to install.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required.
- A Valid Driver's License is required, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
- Proven experience demonstrating the mechanical and physical ability to perform the trade.
- Ability to read, write, and understand sequential processes.
- Ability to apply craft techniques, processes, and principles.
- Must demonstrate initiative and judgment in decision-making.
- Any Lineman school training or apprenticeships through the Department of Labor is helpful.
PARTIAL LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist linemen, as instructed, in constructing, replacing, and maintaining electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment.
- Set and remove barricades, signs, and flares.
- Assist in installation, maintenance, and repair of underground cables.
- Perform groundwork in connection with the stringing of conductors.
- Keep job location in safe, clean, and neat condition.
- Operate vehicles as directed, obeying all safety requirements.
- Load and unload material and equipment.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The position requires field work in an electrical environment. It is regularly exposed to inclement weather conditions and risks of electrical hazards from Littlefield, AZ, to Fillmore, UT. Most of the assignments are in the Fillmore, UT area.
